A 1910 Amethyst Bacchus Cameo, Large Male Wine God w/ Leaves Grapes in Hair, Thick Beard, Reflects Light to Dark Amethyst Depending on Light on 19 Rhodium Necklace. This looks black to light purple when you are wearing it depending on light. This beautiful Amethyst cameo is unused stock from a 1910 Paris workshop. All I did here was foil back & add to a 1/2" raised basket unmarked Sterling basket setting, bail & 19" Rhodium Necklace. Classic example of early 1900s traditional French Pate de verre, the artist mixed crushed glass with enamels or paint to form a paste that was carefully placed in a mold, Displaying belle epoque opulence.
Pate de verre gained renown as an art form by French artists Émile Gallé, Antonin Daum and Réné Lalique. The final result is a piece of sculpture that has a surface with a texture that is similar to that of fine sugar. Extreme amount of unblemished detail to Amethyst cameo with leaves, grapes, sculpting of face, curly hair & thick beard. The majority of time it looks dark purple; but you can see purple when it catches the light.
Focal Front is 1 3/4" tall x 1" Wide Raised 1 gorgeous Cameo. I have 30+ unused 1910 Glass Cameo rings from an Closed in 1910 Paris Workshop. I will add to a plain ring instead.
