Offering an exquisite piece of Venetian Murano hand-blown glass, a sizable 9 high wine glass with a large gold encrusted sea serpent stem. Ttributed to Salviati & Co. With their distinctive style, colors, and fluted gold knop. Great skill, artistry, and quality glass went into this delicate piece. Not antique -- likely from the latter half of the 20th century -- but inspired by glass artisans from the past and using their techniques.
The smooth flared bowl and base are golden brown-tinted glass. The sea serpent features dorsal fins and tail, and little flippers behind the horns. The details are amazing -- rows of scales and ripples you can feel, and occasional peeks at the dark glass beneath that the artist left bare. Glass eyes and red glass tongue. So graceful and with lots of personality.
9" tall by 3-3/4" across rim and 3-3/8 diameter base. Very good condition with no chips or cracks.
