FOSTORIA BLUE JAMESTOWN STEMWARE WINE GLASS FOOTED 11 GLASSES for sale for one price in one listing. Light blue, Heavy Pressed glass. Pattern: Blue Jamestown by Fostoria. Actual: 1958 - 1982 MADE IN USA. This is a heavy pressed glass footed Small Wine Stemed Glassware made by the Fostoria Glass Company in the Jamestown pattern in light blue glass. This pattern was introduced in 1958 and produced though 1982. The heavy footed small wine glass has a slight swirl vertical panels design and faceted nob stem with slight capitol above the facets. The glass is 4-3/8" tall and has a top diameter of 2-7/8". The glasses are in fine vintage condition with no nicks, chips, cracks, stains or cloudiness. Fostoria Blue Jamestown Glass was STOCK number #2719. Each piece has been washed and inspected for condition and have a very minor manufacturing flaw(s). If there is a flaw, it does not distract from its overall beauty.
The foot of this glass has a functional value in that condensation that forms around a glass with ice cubes. This sweating action forms tiny water droplets around the outside of the glass. The foot actually insulates the body of the glass from this sweating action, thus the foot remains dry too avoid marking of furniture or patio tables with condensation water. This is a very decorative glass with many details. A very nice piece of glassware indeed.
The light Blue Glass has short elevated stem with foot. The design is stately and cheerful in appearance.
One might see this glassware used in formal setting or at the Bridge Table. Folks, many China Cabinets were adorned with these Fostoria pieces.
I want to be honest with you and tell you that these blue glasses were manufactured beginning about 1980. When looking at Fostoria glass, examine the glass closely to determine the age of the glass, observe the clarity, look for defects, bubbles, straws and irregularities. These glasses have very slight mold lines and very slight irregularities.
The newer glass will be much clearer, crisp, with insignificant mold lines, and brighter clarity. Holds 3.5 fluid ounces. Unmarked glassware which was common on many Fostoria pieces; no sticker. Very good condition with no chips, nicks, or cracks, one glass is new with label. It began operations in Fostoria, Ohio, on December 15, 1887, on land donated by the townspeople. The new company was formed by men from West Virginia who were experienced in the glassmaking business. They started their company in northwest Ohio to take advantage of newly discovered natural gas that was an ideal fuel for glassmaking. The company to move to Moundsville, West Virginia in 1891. After the move to Moundsville, the company achieved a national reputation. Fostoria was considered one of the top producers of elegant glass. It had over 1,000 patterns, including one (American) that was produced for over 75 years. Sample rooms were located in New York, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, and other large cities. The company advertised heavily, and one of its successes was sales through bridal registries.Fostoria products were made for several U. The company employed 1,000 people at its 1950 peak. During the 1970s, foreign competition and changing preferences forced the company to make substantial investments in cost-saving automation technology.
